You know how it goes, after the festivities it can be hard to get back into the work/school routine. I know I was gutted this morning at the prospect of going back to work. The one thing that got me through the day was knowing that Krav Maga Washington was back tonight after the two week break. Clearly the students were excited to be back too (a couple were even wearing new Krav gear they got off Santa…) as there was a definite buzz around the place.
After a gentle warm up (which included some animal flow techniques) we played some Krav Maga games designed to test our reflexes, positional awareness and co-ordination.
The theme of tonight’s class was dealing with sucker punches and generally being caught by surprise. We ran through various scenarios before we cordoned off a section of the room so we were right on top of one another. Then using multiple attackers we turned up the stress levels to replicate real world attacks. The guys did great. Sure a couple of the guys had clearly over indulged over of the festive period but they didn’t let their lack of fitness stop them completing the task. This never surrender attitude is something that we pride ourselves in at the Spartans Academy and it was clearly on show this evening.
After the class the guys were clearly physically knackered but all left with smiles on their faces and looking forward to the next Krav Maga session in Newcastle. It’s good to be back! Kida.
